Neurosurgeons successfully implant 3D printed skull

Wait what!?

Yep, apparently they were able to print a special plastic skull for a patient who desperately needed help.  The patient, a 22 year old woman from the Netherlands, suffers from a bone disorder that increased the bone thickness in her skull from 1.5 cm to 5 cm. She lost her sight and had horrible debilitating headaches.

Since the operation 3 months ago she has gained her sight,  is symptom-free and back to work. Time will tell if she’ll have to have surgery again in the future, but the great news is that apparently it is really difficult to tell she had surgery at all!
